When he came into the very first audition, he started reading and he stopped himself and said, “I’m not right for your movie. I’m not going to ruin your movie, I’m the wrong guy.” And he left but he was very polite about it. Right away I was like, “that’s exactly the quality I want to have!” I want to have a guy who’s doubting whether he can pull this off and doesn’t want to do it. And ultimately figures out who he is by the end. I love that he can look like this and have that vulnerability. That’s a filmmaker’s dream. [D.J. CARUSO]
